Holidays With Children Or Not? by Jack Blacksmith

After a year of non-stop work and stress, what could be more fun and relaxing than taking one of the many ocean trips on the Atlantic? You get to visit exotic ports of call and spend quality time with your spouse or significant other, just relaxing, eating good food, and spending time together. What could be better than taking one of these relaxing ocean trips? Not to alarm you, but your peace and relaxation can be quickly interrupted when you get hit in the head with a water balloon or squirt from a water gun beside the pool.

You can also feel a little stressed when you find older kids running around the decks, making you feel like you want to jump overboard. During these times, you may not feel that peace and relaxation that was mentioned in the first paragraph. Unfortunately, holidays with children and relaxation do not often come together in a cohesive whole. Whether you are a parent or not, you know that children can sometimes be irritating, simply because they act like children. If you are taking a cruise to relax and recuperate, then hearing kids and teenagers being loud and rowdy will not be something that you will appreciate or enjoy.
So should you just forget about taking that cruise if your main goal is to relax? No, but you do need to plan your trip carefully to help decrease the risk of spending your time with running and screaming kids. You need to first set your sights on a cruise line that does not offer planned children's activities. This may not seem the right way to go, because you want the kids to be entertained, but most families will not go on a cruise that does not have children's activities. This means that there will not be as many children or teenagers as there will be on the ships that offer these activities for the kids. Cruise lines that have activities that cater to the younger set are trying to win the younger ones over for future cruises and they want to sell as many staterooms and tickets as they can. By giving the parent's places where they can drop off their children, then the parents may bring the kids even if they had not really planned to.
When planning your trip, you want to refrain from taking a trip during times where children are out of school. Most parents will not take their kids out of school for a trip, so if you want to take a relaxing cruise, then you may want to not travel during the summer, spring break, or during the Christmas holidays or you may be taking your holidays with children. Choosing the right cruise line can make a big difference as well. Do not take trips on Princess, Carnival, or Disney Cruise lines, because they will have children's activities all through the year. You will want to stick with cruise lines like Crystal, Radisson, or Celebrity for your relaxing and peaceful cruise.
